1. What Information Do We Collect?

The Extension is designed to operate locally within your browser and prioritize your privacy.

• API Keys: The Extension requires an API Key (e.g., Google Gemini API Key or OpenAI API Key) to function. This key is stored locally in your browser using chrome.storage.local.
• Web Page Content: When you click the “Summarize” button, the Extension reads the chat history text present on the active webpage (e.g., Gemini or ChatGPT interface) to process your request.
• User Data: We DO NOT collect, store, or transmit your personal information, browsing history, or usage data to any external servers owned or operated by the developer.

2. How Do We Use Your Information?

• API Keys: Your API key is used exclusively to authenticate requests made directly from your browser to your chosen Large Language Model (LLM) provider (e.g., Google or OpenAI). It is never sent to our servers.
• Web Page Content: The text extracted from the webpage is sent directly to the third-party LLM provider (using your API Key) to generate the requested summary or notes. We do not intercept, save, or analyze this text.

3. Third-Party Services

The Extension interacts directly with third-party APIs (such as the Google Gemini API or OpenAI API) based on your configuration. Please note that the data sent to these providers (your chat content) is subject to their respective Privacy Policies and Terms of Service. We encourage you to review the policies of the AI provider you choose to use.

4. Data Security

Because the Extension operates locally (BYOK - Bring Your Own Key model) and does not use centralized servers to process your data, your API key and chat data remain under your control. Your API key is stored securely using Chrome’s built-in local storage mechanisms.

5. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
